INTEGRITY MUSIC ANNOUNCES ANCHOR HYMNS, A COLLECTIVE OF ARTISTS AND MUSICIANS CREATING SONGS FROM A THEOLOGICAL LENS

1 July 2022 – Nashville, TN – Integrity Music announces Anchor Hymns, a new project from a multigenerational collective of artists and musicians who are creating songs from a theological lens. With a desire to write new content for the hymnal space as well as take many of Integrity Music’s most iconic songs and reframe them in a modern way, Anchor Hymns debuts its first single today, “Christ Be All Around Me.” The recording features the multicultural trio Village Lights – comprised of Sarah Kroger, Ricky Vazquez, and Ike Ndolo – joined by singer and songwriter Jasmine Mullen.

Along with Sarah, Ricky, Ike, and Jasmine, other artists and musicians involved in Anchor Hymns are Paul Baloche, Sandra McCracken, Tim Timmons, Andrew Osenga, Dwan Hill, Leslie Jordan, Taylor Leonhardt and Jess Ray (Mission House), Brent Milligan, Garrett Tyler, Brian Eichelberger, Lucy Grimble, Dee Wilson, Antoine Bradford, and Chaunda Jefferson.

With their rendition of “Christ Be All Around Me” and with more songs slated to release, Anchor Hymns dives deep into the human condition and are unafraid to tackle the sounds of suffering and grief, as well as joy and celebration. As more than just a collection of spiritual songs, what is emerging from Anchor Hymns offers room for worship musicians to level up their skills or to simplify the sounds and play within their skillset. More about Anchor Hymns: Rooted in sacred, reverential, and vulnerable honesty these hymns dive deep into the human condition. Anchor Hymns is a multigenerational collective of artists creating songs of substance from both a lyrical, theological, and musical frame. With roots spanning across generations past and yet-to-come, as well as diverse ethnic backgrounds, these songs create a place where honesty can be found in community, while simultaneously looking towards what’s ahead with gratitude. Musically drawing from Neo Soul, Indie Rock, and Brooklyn Fusion, (blues, jazz, R&B, and soul), these songs are unafraid to tackle the sounds of suffering and grief, as well as joy and celebration.

Anchor Hymns create a space in our musical lexicon to find language for our grief, our suffering, our anxieties, our doubt, our disbelief, and our uncertainty. More than just a serious collection of spiritual songs, these are meant to be played on a continuum of musical sophistication, allowing room for worship musicians to level up their skills or to simplify the sounds and play within their skillset. The hope is that these songs of substance would strengthen the hearts, souls, and minds of those who engage (whether playing or listening). They are songs that are for funerals and home churches alike, in both traditional and modern houses of worship worldwide. This is an open and accessible spiritual and musical edification that gives space for those who find it difficult to engage in typical four-chord modern worship.
